Modern pharmacological studies show that wolfberry polysaccharide has the function of improving immunity,anti-aging,anti-tumor,anti-fatigue,anti-radiation,liver protection,protection and improvement of reproductive function. However,wolfberry acid,another ingredient in wolfberry powder,has not received much effective attention.In fact,wolfberry acid has free radical scavenging and antioxidant ability,which is more durable than VC.
The results of DPPH,ABTS and ORAC showed that the antioxidant activity of wolfberry acid is significantly higher than VC,and the scavenging time of free radicals was longer.Compared with VC wolfberry acid has stronger scavenging ability of DPPH and hydrogen peroxide,and can control hemolysis caused by hydrogen peroxide.Further experiment showed that wolfberry acid could protect mice liver from acute liver injury induced by carbon tetrachloride.
In some mouse experiments suggested that wolfberry acid could improve blood glucose after meal in normal mice and diabetic mice.Therefore,wolfberry acid can better control blood glucose after meal.
